JAMMU, May 20: Senior BJP leader and former Minister Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar said that livelihood of rural workers in Bishnah area has been hit hard for over two months as in the absence of Junior Engineer in RDD in Bishnah sector, all works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) have been halted.
“No estimates, no further job works and no reports as JE RDD is the main officer who is supposed to make all these papers to execute the development works,” he explained during a meeting of Sarpanches and Panches of Bishnah Sector where the was invited for apprising the issue and getting it resolved through his intervention.
The former Minister said that if the prevailing situation continues, major portion of funds for Rural Development in the area will get lapsed.
“Modi Government has sanctioned crores of rupees as funds for each village in the UT of J&K and throughout the country. It is the local administration which has to spend the money for the development works,” said Sukhnandan Kumar and pointed out that LG Manoj Sinha has also directed all the Heads of Departments and the Administrative Secretaries to ensure that no development work is halted especially in the rural areas because of the staff shortage or any other local issue.
Sukhnandan spoke to the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) who assured the former Minister to redress issue of Bishnah area at an earliest so that all works are completed and executed on time.
Others who attended the meeting, included BDC Surjeet Kumar, Sarpanch Vijay Saini, Ex-Sarpanch Surjit Singh, Sarpanch Surjeet Singh, Sarpanch Pritam Kumar, Sarpanch Jatinder Singh and Corporator Surinder Singh.
