Man commits suicide

JAMMU, June 19: One person allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his residence Majalta, in district Udhampur.
Police spokesman said that a person identified as Yash, son of Paras Ram, resident of Majalta, district Udhampur, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance.
Noticing him unconscious, family members shifted him to District Hospital, Udhampur, from where he was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
“In the morning hours, he failed to respond to the treatment and died”, he said, adding, that the body was later handed over to legal heirs after postmortem.
The reason behind such extreme step could not be ascertained, while a case has been registered and investigations started.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Happy, son of Ramesh Singh of Jourian, made an abortive attempt on his life by consuming some poisonous substance at his home.
Family members shifted him to nearby hospital, from where he was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). He was responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
