AKHNOOR, Dec 2: In its drive to reach out to the farmers and provide Agriculture credit to them in the State, Punjab National Bank organized Kissan Credit Cards disbursement function at Akhnoor. The function was inaugurated by Mohd. Latif Mir, Deputy General Manager, Circle Head J&K Operations who was accompanied by Masood Choudhary, AEO, Department of Agriculture, Akhnoor. 47 KCC were distributed to the farmers involving a credit outlay of Rs 31 lakhs in the function in which farmers of villages Gharkhal, Balgara, Ambaran & Dasgal participated.
Mr Mir in his welcome note gave broader outline of Kissan Credit Cards Scheme (KCC), aiming at providing adequate and timely support from the banking system to the farmers. He added that the scheme will be beneficial to the farmers for boosting their agriculture activities and help them in meeting timely short term credit requirements for cultivation of crops, post harvest expenses and profitable marketing of their produce.
He informed that Kissan Credit Cards has provided to be an ideal tool for expansion of Agricultural Credit especially Crop loans in the length and breadth of the state and it allows farmers to have cash credit facilities without going through time-consuming bank credit screening processes repeatedly.
R V S Jasrotia, Chief Manager Circle office urged the farmers to utilize the credit judiciously and repay the loan within the tenure for the success of the scheme.
Exhorting youth to take advantage of various banking products for their self employment and form Farmers Clubs in the villages, he asked the women folk present in the gathering to form Self Help Groups for income generating activities and sustaining their families
A L Pandita, Sr. Manager Akhnoor, Rakesh Kumar Manager Agriculture, Sarpanch Kuldeep Sharma and large number of beneficiaries and staff members of the Bank were present at the function.
