JAMMU, Dec 2: The Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-II) of Legislative Council today suggested for launching a vigorous campaign to highlight the mandate of the Department of Information Technology (IT) & Science & Technology to educate the general masses so that maximum people of the State can avail benefits.
The Committee, which met under the chairmanship of MLC, Vijay Bakaya, discussed and reviewed the overall functioning of the IT Department and suggested several measures to further tone up its functioning. Threadbare discussion was held on the implementation of e-governance, data and functioning of Khidmat Centres operating across the State, other Centrally sponsored and State schemes like Solar Energy Projects.
Legislators, Ravinder Kumar Sharma, Jehangir Hussain Mir, B. R. Kundal and Dr Shehnaz Ganai gave their valuable suggestions for the improvement of the functioning of the department.
The panel stressed upon the officers of IT Department to gear up their field functionaries and come up with the expectations of the people. It also stressed for fixing physical and financial targets and keeping provision for maintenance of solar lights installed at various places. The Committee asked the department to achieve the targets in full and ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach to the people in every nook and corner of the State.
The Committee asked the department to present detailed working report along with the mechanism adopted by the department for implementation of various schemes so that the panel is able to contribute more effectively.
Commissioner Secretary, Information Technology, Bipul Pathak briefed the Committee about the programmes, policies and activities of the department.
Chief Executive Officer, JAKEDA, Hafiz-ullah, Additional Secretary, Legislative Council, Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, besides, senior officers and officials of the department and Council Secretariat were present on the occasion.
