JAMMU, Dec 2: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and coordinator for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency Abdul Hamid Choudhary today said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has scaled down from abrogation of Article 370 to holding discussion on the subject.
“BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during his speech had favoured Parliament to debate Article 370 with a view to scrapping it but the same stands discarded by PDP patron who insisted for further strengthening of the Article 370 of the Constitution of India”, Hamid said, adding that the provision gives people of State constitutional guarantees that can never be withdrawn.
Hamid said Narendra Modi must work towards strengthening the bond between J&K and India and should not spell out any divisive policies.
People in J&K needs development, peace, prosperity, free and fair elections and most importantly strengthening of democratic institutions which Modi should have spelled out in his speech, PDP leader asserted.
