RAMBAN, May 22: One person died on the spot while five others sustained grievous injuries after a vehicle of TATA Mobile make, they were travelling in, plunged into a gorge in Trana area on Khari-Mahoo link road in Khari Tehsil on Monday.
Police sources said that the ill fated vehicle bearing registration number JK19- 9652 was on way to Mahoo from Khari and its drivers lost control over it and it plunged into a gorge at Trana leaving one person dead on the spot and five others injured.
All the injured were rushed to Sub District Hospital Banihal with the help of locals.
Police identified the deceased as Abdul Rashid Hajam, son of Gulam Rasool Hajam, resident of Trana.
The injured were driver Ayaz Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani Naik, resident of Aaroanchala Khari; Inshe, daughter of Mohammad Shafi; Najam Ali, son of Abdul Rashid; Irfan, son of Mohammad Shafi and Jamal Din, son of Gulam Rasool-all residents of Trana.
Police informed that two critically injured persons were referred to GMC Anantnag for specialized treatment.
Body of the deceased was handed over to legal heirs after completing legal formalities.
