JAMMU, May 25: Members of Jammu Kashmir Association of Career Counselors (JKACC) today called on the new Director of School Education Jammu and highlighted several issues facing the education sector in the region, including illegalities committed by some colleges and consultants in the name of fake scholarships, dummy and non-attending classes.
The association members, headed by Kulbir Singh Jamwal, expressed their concerns about the misleading and unethical practices being employed by some institutions and consultants who swindle and con students into adopting non-attending classes, fake scholarships and false promises. Despite the efforts taken by the association to inform students and the public about ethical and legal practices within the industry, these illegal practices continue to cause immense harm to students, leading to poor grades, loss of time and money, and a lack of trust in the education system, they added.
During the meeting, members of JKACC urged the Director School Education to take note of these issues and take necessary action to regulate and provide a reliable and credible alternative for students. The association requested for the allocation of budgets and the creation of a platform for genuine counselling centres to reach out to students, ensuring that every student gets a chance to realize their full potential and make informed choices about their education.
JKACC highlighted the importance of ensuring that students have access to reliable and trustworthy guidance and support, which is critical in shaping their future. The association expressed its willingness to cooperate with the Education Department in addressing these issues and work towards fostering a better educational environment for students. Further JKACC assured that they are committed to working towards enhancing the quality of education and career opportunities for students in the region.
