JAMMU, Dec 3: Jammu West Assembly Movement has threatened the Government to take the people of the State and particularly the Jammu region in confidence before going for the move to install the water meters in the houses on drinking water connections for domestic purposes.
JWAM President, Sunil Dimple warned that if the Government goes ahead with this move to install meters on the water connections, they will start mass janandolan against the PHE Ministry.
He demanded that “free of cost” drinking water should be provided to the people of the State as it has rich sources of the water.
Dimple demanded that supply of water from “River Chenab project” from Akhnoor to Jammu city should be started, as river Tawi is not meeting the requirements of the people.
He urged the PHE Minister, Sham Lal Sharma, to take effective steps not to install the water meters on the water connections and withdraw the increased water tariff immediately.
