Bovines rescued

JAMMU, May 28: Police in Jammu’s Bishnah area claimed today that they have rescued several bovines being illegally transported by the smugglers.
A police spokesperson said that a party of Police Station Bishnah established a naka at Ring Road near Chak Avtara for checking and frisking.
During naka checking, he said an auto load carrier (JK02CX-4023) was signalled to stop. During search of the load carrier, he said, several bovines were found brutally crammed into the vehicle without fodder and water.
He said, accordingly a case FIR number 128/2023 under sections 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act, 50, 52, 54, and 56 of the Transport of Animals Act was registered against the driver of the vehicle and his associate identified as Ajay Kumar of Kotli Mian Fateh, RS Pura and Sunil Kumar of Langotian, Miran Sahib.
The vehicle involved in the crime has been seized while the accused have been arrested and further investigation is on, added the police spokesperson.
