JAMMU, May 29: There is strong resentment among people of Jammu North Assembly segment towards BJP which has miserably failed to address even basic issues of the people of the area.
This was stated by Uday Bhanu Chib, president J&K Pradesh Youth Congress while interacting with people of Ramzanpura, Arjan Nagar and Basant Nagar falling under the Jammu North Assembly segment after starting the development work of laying of 4 and 3 inch dia pipelines to meet the demand of drinking water scarcity in the area. Hari Singh Chib, president DCC Jammu Rural was also present.
Uday Chib took stock of the problems being faced by the people of the aforesaid areas in the absence of elected Govt in J&K. He said that the onus is on the BJP which got huge mandate in the last Assembly and Lok Sabha elections besides being the ruling party at the Centre and State being under direct Central rule.
Chib observed that the majority of people maintained that no new developments but only facelifts of previous works were done in the area. “BJP was in power at the Centre and in the erstwhile J&K State too, it was easy for the party to forward issues of common masses through their Government in the State to the Union Ministry concerned, for mitigating the sufferings of people but they took them casually,” he said.
PYC chief said that BJP leadership has totally failed to fulfil peoples’ aspirations. He said most parts of the city are facing scarcity of potable water and power and dilapidated condition of lanes.
Hari Singh Chib, blamed BJP for betraying the people of Jammu on the issue of statehood and misleading the people on various emotive issues. He asserted that the BJP Government at the Centre has betrayed people of Jammu by reducing the status of a state to union territory and the Govt is also not coming clear on many issues.
Chib said Congress never believes in caste, creed and colour. He claimed that it is only Congress which can keep the whole J&K united. He said people have to come on roads to express their anger and seek redressal of their genuine grievances.
Senior members Shahbaj Ahmad, Barkat Ali, Brij Dubey, Tarun Vaid and officials of Jal Shakti Department were also present on the occasion.
