RAMBAN, May 30: Police here recovered a huge quantity of intoxicant substance and arrested two narco-smugglers in this regard.
Cops at Batote while on routine checking duty, intercepted a vehicle of Maruti Alto make bearing registration number JK19-2406, which was on its way from Nashri to Batote.
During checking cops found 23 kg 740 gram Poppy Straw from boot space of the vehicle.
The driver disclosed his name as Tanveer Ahmed alias Pappu, son of Shabir Hussain, resident of Champa, Batote, District Ramban and another person accompanying him was Javid Ahmed, son of Manzoor alias Nazir Ahmed, resident of Champa, Batote.
Both narco-smugglers were arrested on the spot while the vehicle and contraband were seized.
In this regard, a case in FIR No. 83/2023 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Batote and investigation started.
The arrest and recovery was made by a police party under the command of Inspector Rajesh Khajuria, SHO Batote, under supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs Ramban, Pardeep Singh Sen and under the overall supervision of SSP Ramban, Mohita Sharma.
