Abdullahs, Bhalla, others grieved over loss of lives in Jhajjar Kotli accident

JAMMU, May 30: The bus accident near Jhajjar Kotli, Jammu, which claimed the lives of ten individuals and left several others injured, has evoked profound grief and condolences from various political parties and leaders in the region.
The President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Dr Farooq Abdullah, and Vice-President Omar Abdullah expressed their heartfelt anguish over the tragic incident.
They extended their sympathies to the affected families and urged the local administration to provide all necessary support and assistance to those injured in the accident.
Raman Bhalla, the Working President of JKPCC, termed the accident as extremely unfortunate and offered his deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones.
He emphasized the need for the administration to take effective measures to prevent such fatal road accidents in hilly areas, questioning the lack of checks on operators, drivers, and conductors despite the presence of strict traffic rules.
Bhalla called for a collective effort from all concerned agencies to devise strategies that would effectively prevent such accidents and protect precious lives.
The Apni Party also expressed profound grief and offered their condolences to the affected families. They acknowledged that no words could ease the pain of the bereaved families and prayed for their strength during this difficult time.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of JKNC Jammu, expressed profound grief over the loss of lives in the tragic incident and conveyed his condolences to the affected families.
He urged the divisional administration to provide the best available medical care to the injured and to investigate the causes behind the rising number of accidents in the region.
Ajatshatru Singh, a senior BJP leader, expressed his grief and prayed for peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families.
He called on the administration to provide relief and adequate compensation to the affected families and ensure the injured passengers receive the best possible treatment free of cost. Singh urged the LG administration to take immediate action to prevent such accidents and protect human lives.
Gaurav Gupta, former general secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, expressed grief over the loss of lives and extended solidarity to the bereaved families.
He appealed to the government to provide medical assistance to the injured and compensation to the victims’ families.
Tasleema Akhter, State Secretary of the Democratic Progressive Azad party, expressed deep sorrow and anguish over the incident.
She highlighted the alarming increase in road accidents on the Jammu-Srinagar highway and urged the LG administration to provide immediate ex-gratia relief to the injured and the families of the deceased.
Akhter demanded the best possible medical treatment for the injured individuals.
Rajesh Gupta, Chief of the National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) in Jammu and Kashmir, expressed his anguish and concern over the routine road accidents in the region.
He criticized the lack of preventive measures and called for a change in approach to focus on accident prevention rather than relying solely on post-accident measures.
Veteran National Conference leader and National Spokesperson, Er Rishi Kilam has also termed the accident as shocking.
He has appealed the administration to provide better medical facilities to the accident victims and adequate compensation to the families of those injured in the accident.
