KISHTWAR, May 30: Two persons were killed here today when a loaded Truck they were travelling in plunged into river Kalguni on Thathri-Gandoh road at Machipal.
The ill fated truck bearing registration number JK21F0207 was on its way to Gandoh from Jammu when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled down into river Kalguni in Machipal near of Thathri falling under the jurisdiction of Kishtwar Police.
The truck was loaded with steel.
Driver of the ill fated truck was identified as Lal Hussain, son of Amanat Ali and helper Reyaz Ahmed, resident of village Rajpur, Koular in Samba district.
After getting information of the accident, SDM Thathri, Athar Amin Zargar along with cops rushed to the spot with rescue team and launched an operation to fish out bodies of the driver and helper from the river.
When contacted SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Ahmed Poswal informed that the accident took place in morning after which the rescue operation was started to retrieve the bodies of the deceased persons.
“However, the bodies were not retrieved till evening and the operation was called off as it was grown dark but the operation shall be resumed in the morning,” he maintained.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Post Drabshalla and investigation started.
