Bovine smuggling bid foiled, one held

JAMMU, Dec 4: Satwari police today foiled a bid to smuggle bovine animals and arrested the smuggler.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Satwari Police Station led by SHO Arvind Samyal laid a naka near Jeewan Nagar and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03- 6556.
During checking, police rescued 17 bovine animals which were being transported illegally from Satwari to Srinagar.
The driver of the vehicle identified as Mohammad Sharif, son of Mohammad Hussain of Nagrota Khan Basti Khanpur was arrested, whereas his accompliance identified as Hussain Din, son of Noor Alhai of Darap Gadi Garh managed to flee from the spot. A case under FIR number 229/13 under Section 188 RPC, 3 PC Act has been registered at Satwari Police Station and investigation started.
