Notorious narco-smuggler booked under PITNDPS

DODA, June 1: Police here today booked a notorious narcotic smuggler Amjad Ali, son of Mubark Ali Shah, resident of Sadeeqabad, Doda under Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotic Substance (PITNDPS) Act 1988.
The smuggler has been lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah under the order passed by Divisional Commissioner Jammu for his repeated involvement in smuggling of intoxicant substances.
A handout of Police Department stated that he was the most notorious narco-smuggler in the area and was involved in number of FIRs registered which were registered against him at Police Stations of Districts Doda and Ramban under NDPS Act.
He was involved in the possession and transportation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substance and being a habitual offender he was a serious threat to youth of the area especially in and around Doda city.
His detention under PSA will definitely act as deterrence to the criminals and drug smugglers still at large and will also save precious lives of number of innocent youth of the locality.
This year Doda Police has registered a number of FIRs against notorious drug peddlers and cultivator of Poppy plants (Opium).
Apart from this four habitual drug peddlers are detained under PSA. Moreover, this year large number of drug peddlers have been taken into preventive custody and lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah.
