LEH, Dec 5: BJP unit Leh has strongly condemned and rejected the claim of District Congress Committee Leh for its recent statement that no flag hoisting took place at Demchok on Indo-China border on August 15, 2013.
The local BJP unit in statement clarified that Rigzin Tangey, Sarpanch of Demchok village in Leh district hoisted the National Flag and took salute in presence of over 80 families at Demchok on Independence Day. On this occasion some ITBP men and Army personnel were also present. He said the people despite threats from Chinese Army unfurled the Indian flag there showing extra courage. They said even National BJP president Rajnath Singh and Narendra Modi during their Jammu rally had lauded the courage of Demchok people. It is unfortunate that despite this courageous act, the local Congress leaders were discouraging the nationalist people of Ladakh and misleading the masses.
