JAMMU, June 3: Yudhvir Sethi, Vice President of J&K BJP, inaugurated the slab work of the Sukrala Mata Temple in the premises of the ancient Peer Kho Temple in Jammu today.
The development work of the temple’s slab was initiated by the Sukrala Mata Sewa Dal Purani Mandi.
Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi emphasized the potential of religious tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting its significant contribution to the Union Territory’s economy.
He stated that the religious shrines in Jammu hold great cultural heritage and need to be preserved and developed as religious tourism destinations.
“Jammu is often referred to as the City of Temples, and the region boasts well-ornamented ancient temples that showcase the architectural brilliance of the past,” Sethi said.
He commended the Government’s efforts in promoting religious places, such as ropeway projects and the development of Bawe, Mahamaya, and Peerkho as Tri-shrines. He also mentioned the idea proposed by Jambhu Lochan to connect five shrines, along with other prestigious projects, which will enhance pilgrim tourism in the region.
Sethi called upon the Government to prepare a roadmap for the development of a model that encompasses mega religious pilgrimage cum destination projects.
