JAMMU, Dec 5: On 108th birth anniversary of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohd Abdullah, the National Conference paid rich tributes to the party founder.
Exhorting the people to stand for preserving Sher-e-Kashmir’s idea of secular and democratic Jammu and Kashmir, provincial president National Conference Devender Singh Rana cautioned against conspiracies being hatched to erode special identity of the State.
“The enemies of the people of Jammu and Kashmir within and outside have joined hands to inflict scars on the State’s uniqueness, its glorious traditions and its great ethos for furthering their political ends”, said Mr Rana while paying tributes to Sheikh Abdullah on the birth anniversary at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here this morning.
Mr Rana, along with Minister for Planning and Development Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, MP Mohammed Shafi Uri, senior vice president Surjeet Singh Slathia, Dy Chairman Legislative Council Javed Rana, Legislators Bimla Luthra, Ghulam Qadir Pardesi, Master Noor Hussain and Dr Shenaz Ganai besides senior leaders Haji Abdul Rashid, Pt Govind Ram Sharma, Babu Ram Pal, Abdul Gani Veeri, Rattan Lal Gupta, Brij Mohan Sharma, Th Kashmira Singh, Haji Mohammed Hussain, Qazi Jalal-ud-Din, Bushan Lal Bhat, Satpal Lakhotra, Vijay Lakshmi Dutta, Jugal Mahajan, Gurdeep Singh Sassan, S Peter and others paid tributes to the Sher-e-Kashmir.
Mr Rana asked party workers to strengthen the hands of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for steering Jammu and Kashmir to peace and prosperity. He said National Conference is a great legacy of Sher-e-Kashmir which is proud for its presence in every nook and corner of the State.
Paying tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir, Mr Sadhotra asked the party cadre to gear up for the big exercise and to ensure that National Conference maintains its political supremacy in every constituency. “The biggest tribute to Baba-e-Quom would be to steer National Conference to a big success, as it is the only party that stands guarantee to progress and inclusive development of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh”, he said.
In his speech, Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, Javed Rana made a particular mention of Sher-e-Kashmir’s vision about the upliftment of weaker sections particularly Gujjars and Bakerwals. He said Sheikh Sahib worked relentlessly for the welfare and well being of the people of the State. “The great leader instilled a sense of confidence among the people”, he added.
Describing Sher-e-Kashmir as towering among the tallest leaders of the sub-continent, Surjeet Singh Slathia said the great leader will continue to inspire generations for working towards the betterment of people irrespective of caste, creed and colour.
He made a mention of path breaking and revolutionary initiatives taken by Sher-e-Kashmir for making Jammu and Kashmir a forward looking state.
Prominent among other present on the occasion were Dharamvir Singh Jamwal, Taranjeet Singh Toni, Chander Mohan Sharma, Abdul Gani Teli, Satwant Kour Dogra, Dilshada Malik, Rajesh Bakshi, Pardeep Bali, Mohinder Gupta, Rohit Bali, Anil Dhar, Iqbal Wani, Pankaj Kohli, Rasheeda Begum, Daljeet Sharma, Ram Saroop Sharma, Choudhary Haroon, Sardar Balvinder Singh, M L Munshi, Ashok Singh and others.
On the occasion Quran-e-Khwani was performed at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan and fruits were distributed among the inmates of Vridh Ashram at Amphalla. Minister for Planning and Development Ajay Sadhotra interacted with the inmates and wished them well being. The 108th birth anniversary of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah was observed at all the district, tehsil and block units of National Conference across the Jammu region.
A meeting of NC Minority cell was organized on the birth anniversary of Shiekh Mohammad Abdullah.
On the occasion, working president (Rural) NC minority cell, M K Yogi, working president (Urban) Anil Dhar, Ex MLC B L Bhat and president Youth NC Minority Jatin Bhat paid tributes to the great leader who worked for the betterment of people of J&K throughout his life.
While describing late Abdullah as a visionary leader, the meet recalled the role of the great leader when he fought against the nefarious designs of Kabalies. Though his birthday is celebrated throughout J&K without any caste creed color or affiliation to political parties, it is the duty of NC cadre to carry on the mission of the great leader, they said. ML Munshi, Pinky Bhat, Sameer Bhat, Ashu and others were present in the meeting.
Akhnoor block of the National Conference paid tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir by organizing a function at the party office under the chairmanship of block president Pt Suresh Sharma.
On the occasion, former minister and senior NC leader Pt Govind Ram Sharma recalled the significant contribution of Sheikh Mohd Abdullah towards the development of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the best way of paying tributes to the great leader was that people should strive for peaceful and progressive J&K.
On the birth anniversary of Sheikh Mohd Abdullah, a function was organized at National Conference district headquarter Rajouri where rich tributes were paid to the great leader.
The function was attended by NC State vice-president Harbans Singh, former MLC Mushtaq Bukhari, district president Bashir Ahmed Wani, district secretary Shafayat Ahmed Khan, Ch Liaqat Ali, Mirza Abdul Rashid, Choudhary Talib Hussain, Aslam Khan and others.
The speakers recalled the services of Sheikh Mohd Abdullah for the society in J&K and exhorted the partymen to follow the path shown by the great leader.
Radhay Sham Sharma, Vice-Chairman of State Advisory Board for Development of Kissan and MLA Nowshera, paid rich tributes to Sheikh Mohd Abdullah on the later’s birth anniversary . He described Sheikh Abdullah as the man of masses who worked selflessly for the upliftment of down trodden and weaker sections of the society.
Meanwhile Jammu Kashmir Political Migrants Front in its meeting held under the chairmanship of S Nanak Singh Bedi paid tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir. Various other leaders of the front were also present in the meeting.
