If DPAP voted to power Azad will be CM: Saroori

RAMBAN, June 5: The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) senior leader, Ghulam Mohammed Saroori today claimed that `if DPAP is voted to power, former Union Minister and party Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad will be the Chief Minister of J&K.
Saroori was addressing party workers’ meeting at Neel village in Banihal Constituency of district Ramban. He said that the Banihal constituency in particular and Ramban district in general, was developed by Ghulam Nabi Azad when he was the Chief Minister of erstwhile State.
DPAP vice chairman further said if their party is voted to power, and Azad becomes Chief Minister of Union Territory, no area of the constituency will be left unattended since he has a deep interest in uplifting the downtrodden and backward part of any region.
He was today held a day long party workers convention in Banihal’s Neel area where various party leaders spoke and asserted that DPAP is emerging as the largest political party of Jammu and Kashmir. He appealed to the people to support Azad in the forth coming elections.
Party general secretary RS Chib, extended gratitude to the people of Banihal for making Azad’s recent political rally in the district a grand success and assured them that he will again visit the constituency and have extensive tour where he address a public meeting in Khari and will be meeting all the people and hearing their grievances. A team of DPAP leaders will also visit Mangit area on June 20, he added.
“Today, whatever we have in Banihal either roads, buildings, hospitals and colleges, or district in Ramban, they have all been sanctioned by Ghulam Nabi Azad when he was CM and if we are elected to power again, I promise you Banihal will be one of the best regions in terms of socio-economic and infrastructural development,” Chib claimed.
Chief Spokesperson Salman Nizami said that people of this constituency have decided to vote enmass for DPAP since they have all been ignored and overlooked by previous regimes. He said DPAP will grant a district status to Banihal if it forms the government.
Prominent among others present included DDC Fayaz Naik Zonal vice president, Muneer Bhatt, Dr Asif Khanday, Alyas Banihali Zonal president youth, Farooq Wani Block president Banihal, Ch Mohd Farooq, Provincial Secy, Asghar Rasool and others.
