KATHUA, June 5: District Mineral Officer (DMO) Kathua, Rajinder Singh Rana here today seized six vehicles including one Excavator for indulging in illegal mining in the district.
The vehicles and the Excavator were seized during raids conducted by the team of Geology and Mining Department at Nagri, Ravi River, Taraf Tajwal, Bhagtali and main Bazar Kathua.
The quantity of raw minerals lifted by the vehicles was also measured by the officials of Mining Department and accordingly seizure memos were issued to the violators as per extant rules.
The Excavator bearing registration number JK08G-2567 was seized for excavating Nallah sand along with the vehicles bearing registration numbers PB58F-8405, PB-NE4331, JK20A1765, CF6091 and JK08-8691 for illegal transportation of crushed aggregate.
One vehicle has been handed over to Police Post Nagri and others were handed over to Incharge Police Post Bhagtali till realization of penalty from them through Joint Director Office Jammu.
DMO informed that a total of three Excavators and 13 vehicles have been seized in the last two day operation conducted at various location of the district.
