KISHTWAR, June 5: Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department here today disconnected 37 illegal/unregistered water connections in Poochal area.
A team of PHE led by Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Rajesh Singh along with Junior Engineer (JE), Mohsin Mushtaq and other field functionaries from the PHE Sub Division Kishtwar visited Poochal area as part of disconnection drive initiated following concerns raised by locals during the recent Block Diwas programme in which locals had apprised the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav about prevalence of illegal connections in the area.
These unauthorized connections were causing water shortage and misappropriation of water supply to the legitimate connection holders in the area.
Responding promptly to the grievances expressed by the public, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Executive Engineer PHE, Sunil Sharma to take immediate action and disconnect illegal connections to ensure uninterrupted water supply during the upcoming summer season.
The Executive Engineer, PHE, informed that similar drives will be carried out in future to establish a rationalized water distribution system and to avoid illegal supply throughout various habitations in the district.
