KATHUA, June 6: The residents of Panchayat Haripur, Hiranagar today staged a protest demonstration at Police Station Rajbagh after three youth of the locality abducted a minor girl studying in class 8 in a private school.
The girl, a resident of Thangar was waiting for school bus with her brother when three youth in car bearing number JK02AK-2550 came and abducted her in broad daylight and fled towards National Highway.
Her brother raised an alarm and locals along with police gathered there.
The police and some people chased the car and rescued the girl and caught two kidnappers while the third one fled away from the spot.
Police arrested two kidnappers.
Meanwhile, numbers of residents of Tehsil Narhern including DDC Member, Karan Kumar; Sarpanch, Ravi Kumar and prominent people reached Police Station Rajbagh and staged a protest demonstration against police alleging that criminals are active in Marheen Block.
They said that complaints were already lodged against these criminal in the past but police paid no heed resulting which criminal activities have increased in the area.
They demanded Public Safety Act against the kidnappers.
A police team led by SHO, Tariq Ahmed raided many places to arrest the third kidnapper but he was at large till last reports.
The arrested kidnappers were identified as Rahul Matto, son of Sham Lal, resident of Haripur while the second one was a minor and the third was identified as Rishav, resident of Haripur area.
Rajbagh Police Station has registered a case in FIR No. 153/2023 Under Section 363 and 109 IPC in this regard.
Police has dispatched search teams in various location to nab the third kidnapper.
