Will facilitate smooth pilgrimage to Amarnath Ji

JAMMU, June 7: Union Minister for Road Traffic and Highways Nitin Gadkari today announced completion of two-lane Jaiswal bridge over river Chenab on Udhampur-Ramban section of National Highway-44 which will facilitate smooth pilgrim traffic during upcoming annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji in South Kashmir Himalayas, beginning July 1.

He said the Central Government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained steadfast in commitment to provide Jammu and Kashmir with exceptional highway infrastructure.
“In Jammu and Kashmir, we have completed the construction of a two-lane Jaiswal bridge over river Chenab on Udhampur-Ramban section of National Highway-44,” Gadkari said.
He added that this meticulously designed Balanced Cantilever bridge spans 118 meters and has been built at a cost of Rs 20 crore.
“The establishment of this bridge serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it will alleviate congestion along Chanderkot to Ramban section, ensuring smoother vehicular movement and secondly, it will facilitate seamless passage of vehicles and pilgrims traffic during Shri Amarnath Ji yatra on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway-44, which is scheduled to commence shortly,” Gadkari said.
He added that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they remain steadfast in their commitment to provide Jammu and Kashmir with exceptional highway infrastructure.
“This transformative development not only contributes to the region’s economic growth but also enhance its allure as a prime tourist destination,” the Union Minister for Highways said.
It may be mentioned here that Nitin Gadkari had visited Ramban-Banihal section of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on April 11 during his two days tour of the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. During the tour, he had also inspected work on Zojila tunnel.
The Central as well as Jammu and Kashmir Governments have been stating that travel time from Jammu to Srinagar will come down to four to four and half hours after completion of work on the National Highway.
Annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji shrine is due to start on July 1 and will last 62 days till August 31.
During Monsoon rains, sometimes the pilgrimage had to be stopped on previous occasions due to problems on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway especially between Ramban-Banihal section. However, with construction of the bridge, these problems will be overcome to quite an extent.
