Denial of ‘Martyr’ categorisation to para-military and police forces engaged actively to fight against terrorism in various parts of the country is indeed discouraging (DE Oct 24).
These forces, like Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) also make supreme sacrifice when engaged to curb terrorists activities regardless of unfriendly and odd geographical and climatic conditions. For tireless and most enduring services they render, tag of ‘Martyr’ deserves to be given to these forces too, to boost and strengthen their moral courage.
