JAMMU, June 11: Ex-servicemen held a protest demonstration against anomalies in OROP-II near Hari Singh Park, here today.
Scores of ex-servicemen under the aegis of ‘Fights for Rights Group, RS Pura’ assembled outside Hari Singh Park this morning and started raising slogans in support of their demands.
Carrying banners and placards in their hands, the protesting ex-servicemen said that there are too many anomalies in OROP-II and despite highlighting these, Government is unmoved. “Our ex-servicemen brethren have been sitting at Jantar Mantar for more than 100 days demanding removal in anomalies of OROP-II but nobody from the Government is ready to listen to them,” they added.

“We are demanding implementation of equal military service pay (MSP) to all ranks, equal disability pension, equal pension for liberalized pensioners, equal pension for reservist and increase in widow family pension,” the protesting ex-servicemen said while alleging that widows of Jawans are getting only Rs 16000 per month pension whereas officers’ widows are getting pension in lakhs.
They said our Jawans get Rs 15000 per month as disability pension whereas officers are getting disability pension in lakhs. Stating that Reservists get only Rs 9000 as pension, they demanded major increase in their pension.
The protesting ex-servicemen said if their demands are not fulfilled soon, they will launch a massive protest rally to awake the Government from slumber.
