JAMMU, June 11: Deputy Mayor Jammu Baldev Singh Billawaria today kick started the black topping work on Mahakali Nagar to Gaushala Gadigarh Link Road in RS Pura-Jammu South constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Baldev Singh Billawaria said that the work will be done under the supervision of the Public Works Department (PWD) at a cost of about 25 lakhs. He said that the most important aspect in the development of any area is its connectivity i.e. road and this is the reason why the Central Government is laying special emphasis on improving the roads in every area so that the traffic can be improved.
He directed the officers of the concerned department to complete the works within a given time frame and ensure the quality of work. He said that the local people should personally monitor the quality of ongoing development works in the areas so that the pace of development could be improved.
Billawaria said that earlier in the name of development only drums and plates were visible on the walls and real development has been started to the ground level by the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the general public was exploited by the Congress on the name of development while no development was done on ground.
Corporator Anil Masoom, Gadigarh Mandal president Vijay Sharma, Ramesh Gupta, Pushkar Sharma, Kulwant Singh, Pawan Sharma, Ved Prakash, Indra Khajuria, Meshwar Nath, Babal Raina, Suraj Prakash and Sunil Dutt were also present on the occasion.
