JAMMU, June 11: A meeting of the Forum of Recognized Colleges (FORCE), which is the only body representing higher education institutions in the UT of J&K, was held here at MIER College of Education Jammu.
Held under the chairmanship of Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and Chairman Dogra Education Trust, the meeting was attended by all the office bearers of the association and over 40 representatives of various higher education institutions of the Jammu region from various disciplines such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Education, Management and Social Sciences, which have joined the FORCE.
The main aim of the forum was to bring all the like-minded institutions together and provide a common platform for addressing their issues and concerns and initiating a dialogue with the Government, the University and other statutory bodies/councils to further promote the system of higher education in our region.
M S Katoch, Chairman Kawa College of Education and General Secretary of the forum gave a background on the formation of the association, while Vidhi Singh, Chairman Jamwal Group of Institutions and Vice President of the forum and Dr Adit Gupta, Director, MIER College of Education and Organising Secretary, also spoke on the occasion.
G S Charak listened to the issues of various colleges especially after J&K became a UT with the abrogation of Article 370. He discussed at length the changes higher education institutions need to bring in their functioning considering the developments taking place with the implementation of the National Policy on Education (NEP 2020) and suggested that all the institutions should become truly multidisciplinary for catering to the diverse needs of the students of J&K, who keep on going outside the UT to pursue quality higher education. He assured all the members that their issues and problems shall be taken up by the forum with the concerned authorities at all levels and a level playing field shall be provided for all stakeholders of the forum. He exhorted all members to remain united and share their concerns in a timely manner so that relief can be provided in an appropriate way.
G S Charak also threw light on the various events planned by the forum in the coming months.
