JAMMU, June 12: The School of Journalism and New Media Studies (SOJNMS) of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is offering several high-ended programmes for the journalists and aspiring journalists.
These programmes are being offered in the Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode. The Master of Arts (Journalism and Mass Communication) (MAJMC) programme has been designed to develop skilled human resource in media and communication with a holistic appreciation of media as a tool for change and development.
The programme will help the learners to develop competencies and professional skills to avail employment opportunities in media sectors. It will upgrade the knowledge and skills of those who are working in media organizations without appropriate formal training to upgrade their knowledge and competencies.
The Master of Arts (Journalism and Digital Media) (MAJDM) programme has been developed to inculcate the Skills and competencies of journalistic practices and digital media techniques. Identification of information services, data retrieval, interpretation, analysis, and presentation through various technical tools are the main focus areas of this programme. This programme will help the learners to develop professional abilities to seek employability opportunities in the digital media industry as well as in all the sectors that utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The Master of Arts (Journalism and Electronic Media) (MAJEM) programame will help students to learn and upgrade skills in journalism, audio and audio-visual programme production.
The Master of Arts (Development Journalism) (MADJ) programme will help the students to acquire academic knowledge and professional skills. Students will develop a sound understanding of the core issues of the development process which will help them to find numerous employment opportunities in various local, national and international media industries and development agencies.
