Training program for Panel Lawyers of DLSA Jammu held

JAMMU, June 13: A training program for Panel Lawyers of District legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jammu was organized in conference hall of Lawyers’ Chamber building at District Court Complex, Janipur.
The program was presided over by Chairman DLSA Jammu Sanjay Parihar (Principal District & Sessions Judge) and Resource person for the program was Tahir Khurshid Raina (Special Judge Anti Corruption Jammu).
The training program was held under the supervision of Secretary DLSA Jammu Smriti Sharma and was attended by all the Panel Lawyers of DLSA Jammu and staff of Legal Aid Defense Counsel Office, Jammu.
Secretary DLSA Jammu presented welcome address and thereafter, Chairman DLSA Jammu addressed the Panel Lawyers as well as Legal Aid Defense Counsel and gave various perspectives of the Legal Aid benefits. The training session was conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of NALSA Training module for legal services lawyers.
The main objective of the training program was to provide the legal services lawyers the constitutional perspective behind all legal services provided by various Legal Services Programmes run by the Legal Services Authorities, to familiarize legal services lawyers with the legal aid movement in India and to give an overview of the schemes made under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
Tahir Khurshid Raina while addressing the lawyers told that representing litigants in courts is one of the major engagements of Legal Services Authorities. He said the complexities involved in the litigation in the hands of the Legal services Authorities are as common as there can be any other litigation. He explained at length the perspective of Legal Services Authority Act and functioning of Panel Lawyers, historical background of constitution, NALSA schemes for litigants, matrimonial cases’ resolutions, legal awareness camps’ benefits, etc.
At the end of the program, the Resource Person emphasized on the Panel Lawyers to follow 4 Cs i.e. Commitment, Competence, Character and Conduct in the field of judiciary to achieve great success and concluded that each and every Panel Lawyer of DLSA Jammu should whole heartedly handle the cases of needy litigants and should do awareness program so that the public can get aware of Legal Aid benefits.
Similar training programs were held at TLSC Akhnoor, Bishnah and RS Pura in which resource persons were chairmen of respective TLSC.
