BIS JKBO organizes technical discussion ‘Manak Manthan’

JALANDHAR, June 15: BIS Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) here today organized ‘Manak Manthan’, a technical discussion on Standards.
The discussion was held on Indian Standards in Sports Footwear at a Hotel in Jalandhar (Punjab).
Objective of the discussion was to take inputs from manufacturers of related industry and discuss the provisions of standard keeping in mind the technical as well as user perspective.
The programme started with the welcome address by Pankaj Atri, Joint Director, BIS JKBO and he explained the significance of Manak Manthan and emphasized on the role of BIS in creating a quality revolution in India. He briefed the participants about initiatives taken by BIS to encourage stakeholder involvement at grass-root level in standardisation activity which will not only help in technical up-gradation of national standards but will also broaden their reach to the end users.
Officers from BIS JKBO also gave an overview of BIS standard formulation process. They explained various features of BIS website such as Know Your Standards, Standard of Week/Month, Manak Online website and BIS Care App.
Later Niraj Mishra, Assistant Director BIS, held detailed deliberations on all clauses of the standard. Participants raised a number of technical and editorial comments which will be forwarded to the related technical committee for further deliberations.
The sessions were made interactive through open house discussions on process being followed in manufacturing and testing by various industries in Jalandhar.
The meeting was attended by participants from more than 30 different industries of Jalandhar.
