MUMBAI, June 15: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta asked the participants of National Legislators’ Conference (NLC) to pass a resolution claiming Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) is integral part of India on the lines of Parliament of India, which had already passed similar resolution on February 22, 1994 to reclaim the remaining parts of Kashmir such as Gilgit and Baltistan in Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir.
The former Deputy Chief Minister from J&K was speaking at the Executive Council meeting of NLC at Mumbai on Thursday.
Kavinder appealed to all participants to pass a resolution and recommend PoJK to be part of India, on which Parliament has already passed a resolution and one third seats have been reserved, with members to be nominated unanimously. The three days National Legislators’ Conference (NLC) is presently taking place at the Jio World Convention Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, Maharashtra, from June 15 to June 17.
Kavinder also strongly batted for making an appeal to Government to reclaim Indian Territory from the illegal occupation of Pakistan.
The event aims at providing a common platform to legislators, Assembly speakers, and former Lok Sabha speakers to engage in meaningful debates and deliberations that will enhance the functioning of legislative bodies. With a notable participation of over 2,000 MLAs and MLCs from almost all State assemblies and councils, this gathering has been exchanging views on legislation and good governance. The major issues being discussed include technology-driven economic growth, international legislative practices, collaborative efforts between bureaucrats and legislators for social progress, welfare politics and the nurturing of constituencies. Recognizing the importance of holistic well-being, special sessions will also focus on stress management and maintaining a healthy work-life balance for lawmakers.
