Farmers protest against NHAI, demand proper compensation

AWANTIPORA, Dec 8: The inhabitants of Chursoo village in Pulwama district whose land has been acquired by the Government for widening of the Jammu-Srinagar Highway staged protest against the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the State Government for its failure to compensate farmers on time with promised compensation.
Shouting anti-Government and anti-National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) slogans, the farmers blocked the highway at Chursoo for hours.
The farmers also accused the authorities for deliberately delaying the release of their compensation.
