RAJOURI, June 18: Former MLA, Ashok Sharma, today launched the “Chaurahey Pe Charcha” initiative in Panchayat Dali-B, Kartwari, Sunderbani-Kalakote Assembly Segment of this border district.
As per a statement, the public awareness campaign aims to bridge the gap between local residents and the Government by conducting discussions and raising important issues for redressal.
A large number of people participated in the first session of “Chaurahey-Pe-Charcha,” where various concerns were brought forward. These included pending road construction projects, the condition of school buildings, staff shortages, electricity unavailability, and outstanding payments to workers under MGNREGA.
During the discussions, demands were made for the inclusion of Naara Kas road, measuring a stretch of 2 Kms to Primary School, Katwari, in the ongoing PMGSY project. Upgrading the single-room Primary School, Katwari, to a Middle School was also emphasized.
Former Legislator, Sharma, communicated these demands telephonically to Chairman DDC, Rajouri, and Secretary, RNB.
Furthermore, Block Development Officer, Kalakote, was urged to release funds for long-pending payments of MGNREGA workers and other small-scale schemes. The issue of phone line connectivity was also raised with the concerned Assistant Executive Engineer. The Government authorities present at the session assured the attendees that these issues would be addressed promptly.
In a unanimous resolution, the participants of the first “Chaurahey-Pe-Charcha” session decided to assemble in large numbers at Kalakote on June 24th, 2023 (Saturday) to advocate for the construction of the Soit-Kalakote Road and its handover to GREF.
The session was presided over by Sukh Ram, a retired headmaster.
