JAMMU, June 20: Election of Jammu Kashmir Judicial Employees Welfare Association (JEWA) was held today in which Iftkhar Hussain Dar was elected as J&K UT president and Ranjit Parihar as senior vice president while Sudershan Singh was elected as State general secretary.
Out of 43 votes polled, Iftkhar Hussian got 25 while his rival candidate T.N Pandita got 18 votes.
State general secretary Sudershan Singh got 30 votes while his rival candidate Mohd Shaffi got 16 votes. Senior vice president, Ranjit Parihar got 27 votes defeating his rival who got 16 votes and vice president, Ajaz Dar got 27 votes while his rival candidate got 16.
Organizer, Zahor Jan Mir got 21 votes against his rival who got 19 but Anchal Rakwal was elected unopposed as publicity secretary.
The election was held under the supervision of two independent Chief Election Commissioners-Bilal Ahmed (Retd CAO) from Srinagar and Mangat Ram Parihar, Chief Administrative Officer Principal District & Session Court Jammu at District Court Complex Srinagar.
Six Observers appointed for conducting smooth polls from both the provinces were Mohd Akbar Mir, Azaj Ahmed Wafai, M. Alias Pandita, Mirza Nazir Ali, Mohd Sultan and Mohd Amin Mir.
Provincial president Kashmir Khursheed Ahmed Trali and Puran Singh from Jammu province were also present.
