JAMMU, Dec 9: Minister for Labour, Planning and Development Ajay Kumar Sadhotra and Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today criticised BJP and PDP for basing their politics on weakening National Conference rather than coming out with a constructive agenda to develop Jammu and Kashmir as a peaceful and progressive State.
“The record of PDP and BJP is replete of machinations these parties carried out clandestinely as well as openly to create obstacles in the path of progress and development of Jammu and Kashmir”, Mr Sadhotra said while interacting with a cross section of society and deputations from all over the region during public hearing at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here this morning.
He said the political interests of these parties are well served by polarising the State and polluting its peaceful environs. “Such attempts have gained momentum with general elections coming nearer”, he added.
Mr Sadhotra said National Conference believes in assuaging the political aspirations of the people and not in hollow sloganeering. This is evident from the report card of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the past five years, he said, adding this stands testimony to the mission and commitment of the party to herald a new era of progress and development. He exhorted the workers to apprise the people about the initiatives taken in the three regions and efforts made to enhance the living conditions of people.
In his interaction, Mr Rana questioned the role of opponents in steering the state from difficult situations, saying their only agenda has been to divide the people by indulging in deceit.
He vowed that National Conference would not allow the political chameleons to succeed in their nefarious designs and will fight the elements inimical to state’s glorious traditions with full might. He reiterated that the PDP is an extension of BJP in Kashmir and both these outfits were working overtime to defeat and dilute the special identity bestowed upon Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. In this context, he referred to the orchestrated campaign launched by the BJP across the country to hoodwink public opinion.
Mr Rana and Mr Sadhotra said that National Conference believes in principled politics which is the essence of democratic ideals nurtured over the years under the towering leadership of Baba-e-Quom Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah and Dr Farooq Abdullah. “Sher- i-Kashmir fought all his life against elements inimical to amity, brotherhood and unity of the state”, they said, adding it is therefore incumbent upon every worker to carry forward this mission with renewed determination.
The deputations from Billawar, Hiranagar,  Ramban, Rajgarh, Miran Sahib, RS Pura, Samba, besides scores of individuals called on the Minister.
