SRINAGAR, June 21: The Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh, paid a visit to the SDRF 1st Battalion Headquarters in Srinagar today, where he conducted a thorough assessment of the preparedness of the Mountaineer Rescue Teams (MRTs) for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Accompanied by ADGP Armed, SJM Gillani, and ADGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, the DGP met with MRTs from SDRF, NDRF, JKAP, and CRPF, as well as bomb disposal squads and dog squad handlers who will be deployed during the Yatra.
During his interaction with the assistance teams, the DGP expressed confidence in the highly trained officers and jawans, urging them to provide aid and assistance to the pilgrims in a professional manner when required.
He emphasized the importance of conducting mock drills and joint exercises in a timely manner and personally pledged to witness these drills. The DGP also issued directives for the formulation of a comprehensive assistance plan well in advance of the commencement of the Yatra.
Recognizing the pivotal role played by the MRTs and other concerned agencies, the DGP emphasized the need for an attitudinal change when interacting with the Yatris or carrying out assistance tasks.
He stressed that the commendable work of the deployment and assistance teams would be documented for future reference. Drawing from his own experience in SDRF, the DGP highlighted the force’s remarkable growth and efficiency in conducting various assistance assignments.
In a further effort to enhance the capabilities of the Mountaineer Rescue Teams, SDRF, and NDRF, the DGP instructed for the provision of all necessary equipment and tools to ensure their efficient operations and assistance to the Yatris.
He expressed his desire to showcase the equipment and tools used during rescue operations, noting that this would serve as a valuable resource for those interested in understanding their usage.
The DGP extended his best wishes to all the teams deployed for the Yatra, underscoring the importance of collective efforts in ensuring a peaceful and incident-free pilgrimage.
