Srinagar, June 21: The Food Safety Department of Kashmir today seized ten quintals of dressed chicken and meat that were being sold in violation of the Food Safety Standards Act at the premises of Eve Enterprises in the Parimpora area of Srinagar.
According to a spokesperson from the department, they received specific information about the sale of raw dressed chicken imported from outside the state without adhering to the Food Safety Standards Act, which includes the non-maintenance of the cold chain.
Acting promptly, he said, a team of Food Safety Officers, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Food Safety Kashmir, conducted an inspection at the premises of Eve Enterprises in Parimpora. “Subsequently, they seized 10 quintals of the illegally sold chicken. The entire quantity was destroyed on the spot, and samples were collected for further legal proceedings,” he said.
He said it was also discovered that the premises were in unhygienic conditions, posing a threat to public health. Consequently, the premises were sealed to protect the well-being of the general public.
