Official sources confirmed to the Excelsior that a visit to the BJP office to assess political situation in Jammu and Kashmir and party’s preparedness for the future elections has been added to Rajnath Singh’s one-day visit to Jammu on June 26.
Rajnath will interact with UT unit office bearers and senior leaders at Trikuta Nagar headquarters of the BJP after addressing Security Conclave and discuss with them prevailing security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
Though no elections are scheduled to be held immediately yet the Defence Minister will assess party’s preparedness if the Assembly elections, which are due and for which the BJP UT unit has made a demand, are held.
Few days back BJP UT chief Ravinder Raina had called upon the Election Commission of India to announce Assembly elections in the Union Territory. He had also stated that the BJP is fully prepared to contest the Assembly polls.
Prior to the BJP meeting, Rajnath Singh will address decorated ex-servicemen, writers, journalists and other senior security experts at the first-ever Security Conclave organized by the J&K unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party at Zorawar Singh Auditorium.

His mega rally in Jammu is part of BJP’s month-long programmes for celebrations of nine years of Narendra Modi Government.
