Mumbai, June 22 : The BSE Sensex on Thursday slipped 284.26 pts to close at 63,238.89 on profit booking by local operators at higher level amid weak Asian Market.
The Nifty too fell 85.60 pts at 18,771.25 pts.
The Sensex opened higher at 63,601.71, rising 78 pts. And it was the days high.
Later, it was tumbled nearly 323 pts at 63,200.63, days low, before closing at 63,238.89, sliding 284.26 pts from its previous close.
The sectoral indices that fell were Power by 1.47 pc, Utilities by 1.16 pc, Telecommunications by
1.05 pc.
In scrips, Bajaj finance was a major loser, down 2.34 pc to Rs 7035, Asian Paints by 1.98 pc to Rs 3249, Tata Motors by 1.71 pc to Rs 571.25, Powergrid by 1.67 pc to Rs 253.80 and NTPC 1.47 pc
to Rs 184.75.
The gainers were Tata Steel by 0.86 pc to Rs 111.25, HDFC by 0.62 pc to Rs 2718.75, Bharti Airtel
by 0.55 pc to Rs 843.30, HDFC Bank by 0.49 pc to Rs 1643.80.
The Mid cap declined by 1.07 pc and Small cap by 0.64 pc.
In 30 scrips, 10 advanced while 20 declined.
In Asian Market, Australia fell 1.66 pc followed by China by 1.31 pc, Hong Kong by 1.98 pc and Japan by 0.92 pc.
