Gandhinagar Hospital Jammu, First In J&K, To Receive Award Of Incentive Under DHIS

In a significant milestone, Gandhinagar Hospital in Jammu has become the first hospital in Jammu and Kashmir to receive an award of incentive under the Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS) of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. The National Health Authority (NHA) introduced this scheme to promote digital health transactions across the country, and the hospital’s achievement marks a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services. The hospital has been nominated for an incentive award of Rs 3.5 lakh for April and May 2023. This incentive makes Gandhinagar Hospital the first healthcare facility in Jammu and Kashmir to receive such recognition.
Gandhi Nagar Hospital has achieved remarkable milestones despite facing numerous challenges. It boasts one of the highest footfalls in outpatient departments (OPDs) across Jammu and Kashmir. The hospital has also been issuing birth certificates on the spot for newborns and has consistently excelled in the digital registration of OPD patients under the ABHA initiative. These accomplishments have positioned the hospital among the top healthcare facilities in the country. However, the hospital faces several obstacles, including limited resources such as limited ultrasound facilities, the absence of an MRI machine, and a shortage of staff considering the high number of daily OPD consultations. The Health and Medical Education Department must address these issues and formulate a plan to provide adequate staffing and equipment to Gandhi Nagar Hospital promptly. This approach would not only honour the hospital’s achievements but also serve as motivation to strive for even better performance in the future.
