One dead, another injured in Ramban accident

RAMBAN, June 22: One person died while another injured in a tragic road accident near Battery Chashma on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway here today.
Police sources said that a truck (JK03E-3581), heading towards Srinagar, lost control and plunged into a gorge near Battery Chashma, resulting in injuries to two persons.
Promptly they were taken to District Hospital by the police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams but one of them, was declared as dead on arrival by the doctors while the other was referred to a hospital in Kashmir for advanced treatment, sources said.
The deceased have been identified as Asif Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad Wani of Nowgam, Shopian, while as the injured has been identified as Mehraj Ahmad son fo Abdul Rehman of Shopian.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and taken up further investigations. Meanwhile body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs after performing the post-mortem at the hospital.
