NEW DELHI, Dec 10: Wheat prices rose by Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased offtake by flour mills to meet the ongoing marriage season demand.
However, rice basmati met with resistance and slipped.
Traders said increased offtake by flour mills to meet the ongoing marriage season demand mainly led to rise in wheat.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1650-1655 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,655-1,660 per 90 kg.
On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety met with resistance at prevailing higher levels and ended lower at Rs 8,700-9,000 and Rs 8,150-8,700 against last close of Rs 8,700-9,100 and Rs 8,200-8,800 per quintal, respectively.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 8,700-9,000, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 8,150-8,700, Permal raw 2,275-2,350, Permal wand 2,400-2,500, Sela 3,250-3,300 and Rice IR-8- 2,000-2,025, Bajra 1,240-1,245, Jowar yellow 1,400-1,450, white 2,300-2,500, Maize 1,420-1,425, Barley 1,370-1,375, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
