JAMMU, June 23: Pir Panchal a socio -cultural organisation working in various fields organised a Tribal Gujjar Cultural programme at Dharmari in Reasi district today.
SDM Dharmari, Tariq Aziz was the chief guest while Makhan Deen, Block Development Committee Chairman, Jan Mohammed, Sarpanch and Mohammed Naseem Gulabgaddi were the guests of honour. The function was presided over by Ramesh Hangloo, president Pir Panchal.
In his address SDM Dharmari, Tariq Aziz expressed his satisfaction over the role of Pir Panchal in reviving the ancient culture of J&K and said the organization under the leadership of Ramesh Hangloo has been working tirelessly in uniting the people of different areas of J&K through their rich cultural heritage by organizing the programmes in far flung and remote areas. Expressing his confidence that the activities of Pir Panchal will lead to cultural renaissance in J&K, Aziz asked the president of the organization to organise such programmes on regular basis as the Tribal culture is facing the threat to get vanished. He said Tribal communities have produced great personalities in the field of music and poetry which directly linked to spirituality.
He said the people were so eager to watch this cultural programme that they closed the business establishments. He said there is no dearth of talent in this area but it needs to exploited.
Makhan Deen and Jan Mohammed said linking people to their roots is a great service to culture and giving preference in exploiting the talent of artists in far-flung areas is a great service being done by Pir Panchal. Mohammad Hussian Naseem Gulabgaddi renowned cultural activist of the area gave the historical and geographical background of Pir Panchal region.
In his address Ramesh Hangloo said unity in diversity is India’s Mantra for success. “In this global world our duty is to modernize ourselves and side by side preservation and promotion of cultural identity. He said the language of every region and ethnic group needs to be preserved and strengthened. Besides, he stressed on promotion of tourism in these areas. He said that the misguided youth have to be given proper guidance so that their energies can be channelized for the betterment of country as a whole.
