AKHNOOR, June 23: A woman bootlegger was arrested with 40 litres of illicit liquor from Jadh Jourian Area here today.
A police spokesperson said that acting on a tip-off, police personnel under the guidance of SDPO Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Sharma, and with the assistance of SHO Akhnoor, Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, and incharge Police Post Jourian, PSI Karnail Singh, carried out an intensive search operation at Jadh Jourian.
During the raid at the suspected location, he said, the police apprehended a woman, identified as Joginder Kour of Jadh, Tehsil Jourian, while preparing and selling the illicit liquor.
“She was accordingly taken into the custody along with 40 litres of illicit liquor while 300 litres of laahan made by her was destroyed on-the-spot,” said the police spokesperson.
Police have booked the accused woman in case FIR number 173/2023 under Sections 48-A, 48-E, and 48-F of the Excise Act registered at Police Station Akhnoor and taken up further investigation.
