JAMMU, June 23: Mystery shrouded the death of a Jammu youth, who was found dead inside a factory in Bari Brahamana Area on Thursday.
Family members of the deceased Sanjeev Kumar, who protested here at Bakshi Nagar Area, seeking arrest of the owner of Branco Industries Private Limited, Bari Brahamana, claimed the deceased didn’t work in the factory where he was found murdered.
Quoting some eyewitnesses, they said, a vehicle of the factory met with an accident outside the factory yesterday, where the deceased might have been killed and later shown dead inside the factory.
Police in Bari Brahamana area, however, claimed the youth died due to falling from one of the floors of the factory.
“We’ve launched inquest proceedings under CrPC 174 to ascertain the reason behind the death of the youth but from preliminary investigation, it has come to the fore that he died due to falling from one of the floors of the factory,” SHO Bari Brahamana, Inspector Sunil Sharma told the Excelsior.
Sharma, however, said that he will proceed under the laid down law after completion of the investigation under the CrPC 174.
But brother of the deceased, Sumit Kumar, said, “My brother never worked in Branco Industries Private Limited either as a permanent employee or part-time. So, there is a no probability of him visiting the factory for any work.”
According to Kumar, two friends of deceased Sanjeev Kumar, Prince and Munna, told former’s mother about his death at around 3:30 Pm on June 22 (Thursday) and later ran away from Government Medical College Jammu with the deceased’s clothes and the mobile phone.
“So far, they’re untraceable and police have neither accepted our application nor called them or the owner of the factory, for questioning. It seems that the police are working hand-in-gloves with the owner of the factory, who’s trying to put a carpet on the actual events that led to the death of my brother,” he said.
Kumar further claimed that they have also been offered Rs 1.5 lakh by the HR of the company in lieu of closing the matter immediately.
“We’ve been offered Rs 1.5 lakh by the HR of the company to sit silent on this matter. But we won’t let anyone go unpunished even if we have to move to the court,” Kumar said.
He appealed the Bari Brahaman Police to accept their application and make arrests in the case as soon as possible.
