JAMMU, June 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that during last 2-3 years, new dimensions of development have been created in Jammu and Kashmir and that the Union Territory will write a new story of development during ‘Azadi Ka Amritkaal’.
Modi said this in a brief message published in e-Compendium ‘Jammu and Kashmir A Story of Transformation’ which was released by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Bhagwati Nagar rally here yesterday in the presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
“Be it democracy or the resolution of development, today Jammu and Kashmir is setting a new example for the whole country,” the Prime Minister said.
In an indirect reference to abrogation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir, Modi said in the last 2-3 years, new dimensions of development have been created in Jammu and Kashmir.
Special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370 and 35A) was abrogated by Narendra Modi Government on August 5, 2019.
“New Jammu and Kashmir will write a new story of development during Azadi Ka Amritkal,” the Prime Minister said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who released the e-Compendium, in his message, said Jammu and Kashmir is among the top States and Union Territories in India in implementing Central schemes.
The book carried several success stories of Jammu and Kashmir in different sectors including execution of development works and marching ahead during last three and half years.
On August 5, 2023 i.e. in next about one and a half months, Jammu and Kashmir will complete four years of scrapping of special status of J&K and its bifurcation into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
Home Minister Amit Shah concluded his two-day visit to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir this afternoon. In Jammu, he addressed a mega public rally at Bhagwati Nagar, inaugurated and laid foundation stone of many projects, met victims of Dhangri attack and then departed for Srinagar where also he inaugurated and laid foundation of projects, reviewed security situation, met families of police personnel who fell to terrorism and laid foundation for Balidan Stambh.
The e-Compendium traced development journey of Jammu and Kashmir especially the transformation brought in during last three and half years and current year.
The Central as well as Jammu and Kashmir Governments have been executing series of developmental works in the Union Territory which find mention in the e-Compendium.
The Union Territory Government has been getting substantial funds in the Centrally Sponsored Schemes. However, there has been categoric directions from the Centre as well as Jammu and Kashmir Governments that timelines for the projects shouldn’t be missed as it leads to cost escalation.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has been regularly monitoring the development works in Jammu and Kashmir especially the projects being executed under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
