Case of alleged missing man turns out to be murder by son, others

REASI, June 25: A case of alleged missing of a middle aged man turned out to be murder and that too by his own son along with others who disposed off the dead body and cooked a story about missing of his father.
While three out of the four accused have been arrested, preliminary investigations hint that illicit relations of the accused led to the murder. More arrests are likely to be made in this connection as further investigation into the case is going on.
The incident took place at village Tote in Tehsil Bhomag in Reasi district and the deceased was identified as Paramjeet Singh, son of Gopi Chand, resident of Tote.
While sharing the details, SSP Reasi Amit Gupta said that on March 30, 2023, a person namely Dalip Singh, son of Gopi Chand, resident of Tote, appeared at Police Station Reasi and lodged a written complaint stating that his brother Paramjeet Singh had gone missing from Reasi on since March 27, 2023.
On this, a missing report was lodged at Police Station Reasi and during the course of investigation, Police rounded up some suspects who disclosed that Paramjeet Singh was murdered by his son Vikas Thakur and three others. After raiding at different location, the Police teams from PS Reasi arrested the accused persons, who were identified as Sushil Chander, son of Sansar Chand, resident of Chorakote, Tehsil- Bhomag; Vikas Thakur, son of deceased Paramjeet Singh and Vipan Kumar, son of Rattan Lal of Kotli Manotrian.
The accused persons confessed that the trio, along with Seeta Ram, brother of Sushil Chander, had killed Paramjeet Singh on March 27 and buried the dead body near Serla Bhaga area. After the confession of accused persons, a team of PS Reasi, headed by SHO Reasi and FSL exhumed decomposed body of the deceased in presence of an Executive Magistrate. After completing the legal formalities, the body was shifted to GMC Jammu for post-mortem and further medical opinion by the experts.
The whole operation was conducted by the teams of PS Reasi, headed by Inspector Vijay, SHO Reasi and Neeraj Padyar, DySP Hqrs Reasi, under the supervision of SSP Reasi Amit Gupta.
