Hit-and-run case solved

AKHNOOR, June 26: Police here claimed to have solved a hit-and-run case registered at Akhnoor Police Station.
A police spokesperson said that an information was received at Police Station Akhnoor through reliable sources that one Vishal Kumar son of late Shathi Ram of Panjgrai, suffered injuries after the motorcycle (JK02DA-0431) he was riding on, was hit by an unknown person.
“The injured youth was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” he said.
On this, police registered a case FIR number 175/2023 under sections 279 and 304(A) of the IPC and started investigation.
Post registration of FIR, special teams of Police Station Akhnoor led by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma assisted by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, with the help of CCTV footages, arrested the accused identified as Banarasi Lal of Bhalwal, who confessed to his involvement in the crime, police spokesperson said.
Police have seized the vehicle used in the crime and started further investigations.
