Sculpture of Goddess handed over to Archaeology Deptt

Srinagar, June 27: Police in Baramulla today handed over an old sculpture of Goddess Lakshmi to the Department of Archaeology which was found by locals while digging the land.
Some days back, police said, locals of village Sheeri informed Police at Baramulla that they had found a sculpture while digging the land.
On receipt of this information, a Police party rushed to the spot and took possession of the sculpture.
“The team of Archives, Archaeology and Museums was called for an examination of the recovered sculpture who reported at the District Police Headquarters Baramulla and after examining the sculpture thoroughly established that the recovered sculpture is of Goddess Lakshmi,” police said.
Accordingly, the sculpture was handed over to Registering Officer Antiquities, Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums Kashmir and his team by SP Hqrs Baramulla Divya D in presence of DySP DAR DPL Baramulla Peerzada Aijaz Ahmad through proper handing and taking over the procedure.
