Two peddlers held with 341 g charas

LEH, June 27: The District Police Leh today arrested two local individuals involved in drug peddling and recovered 341 grams of charas from their possession.
“While conducting routine patrolling in and around Leh market, a team of Police Station Leh apprehended a suspicious person carrying a carry bag. Upon being asked to stop for checking, the person exhibited suspicious behavior, however, the alert police party overpowered the individual,” A police spokesman said.
He said on checking the carry bag, finger-shaped charas like substance weighing around 135 g was recovered from the person identified as Abdul Majid son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Chute-Rantak (Leh) who runs a meat shop at Nowshera market Leh.
“In this connection, a case FIR Number 96/2023 U/S 8/20/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Leh,” the spokesman said, adding, further investigation into the case led to the arrest of another peddler namely Thinles Gyatso son of late Sonam Angchuk, resident of Digger (Nubra) and recovery of approximately 206 g of finger-shaped charas like substance from his rented accommodation room near Zangsti. The accused operates a bike rental shop at Zangsti (Leh), he added.
